Project description: Since entering the market in March, Plaza Tire Service plans to open its third Springfield store before the end of the year. The Cape Girardeau-based chain operates 62 stores across Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas. To make way for its latest store, Plaza Tire had the South Campbell Avenue building demolished. It previously housed a number of restaurants in recent years – most recently La Mision. The other Plaza Tire stores are on East Sunshine Street, in a retrofitted building, and West Sunshine Street, adjacent to Springfield Plaza. Company officials have said they planned three stores in the city.
Missouri State University’s science building, built in 1971 and formerly called Temple Hall, is being reconstructed and updated.
