Project description: Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, owned by the Wood-Humiston-Turner family, is expanding its services to animal companions with a full-service pet funeral home and crematory, Cherished Pets Funeral Home and Crematory LLC. The primary building, located west of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home off Kansas Expressway, will be 5,090 square feet, with a funeral vehicle garage of 1,835 square feet going up north of the building. The pet funeral home and crematory will feature a chapel, visitation rooms, crematory with a viewing area, a reception area and burial services. An open-air prayer/meditation garden is planned inside the facility, and there will also be a merchandise room with urns and keepsakes, including jewelry.
