Project description: Central Bank is converting this ATM site for its 22nd full-service branch in the Springfield area. Bank officials two years ago bought the land at the northeast corner of Springfield Plaza. Rich Kramer Construction Project Manager David Trousdale said the bank’s facade is designed almost entirely in structural glass being shipped from China. He said the exterior glass wall is self-supporting, without the typical aluminum. “It all supports itself. It’s clipped to the top and clipped to the bottom,” he said of the glass expected to arrive by early May. Another construction and design feature is the geothermal heating system installed by Gold Mechanical and subcontractors. “That’ll be unique for a retail branch bank,” Trousdale said. “It’s the first one I’ve done in a commercial building.”
