This year's Springfield Prayer Breakfast is slated to include a keynote speech from a former St. Louis Cardinals player.
Kyle McClellan, who pitched for the Major League Baseball team prior to his retirement from the league in 2014, is scheduled to speak May 4 during the event at University Plaza Convention Center, according to a news release from Council of Churches of the Ozarks Inc., which hosts the annual event.
Currently host of The Chatter’s Box podcast that covers the Cardinals, McClellan also in 2014 launched the Brace for Impact 46 nonprofit that has built an orphanage in Haiti and conducted community development initiatives in St. Louis.
“I feel like I have been given a platform through baseball to help other people, and Brace for Impact 46 is a way that we can do that," McClellan said in the release. "We look forward to sharing our passion for helping others with our supporters.”
McClellan made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 2008. He played with the team for five seasons and was a member of the World Series championship team in 2011.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
