Food, entertainment venues announce closures

A trio of Springfield food and entertainment venues have announced closures.

Ebbets Field, Kiss Bar & Grill and Vic's Pastries are shuttering, according to Facebook posts from the businesses.

The last day for the 42-year-old Ebbets Field, 1027 E. Walnut St., is scheduled Jan. 7, according to a Facebook post yesterday.

"We've had a great run! We're bummed to announce that service at Ebbets Field as we know it will end," the post reads. "We appreciate the community for the years of support and our staff for all the hard work."

A group led by Bryan Properties LLC purchased Ebbets Field in late 2018, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

In a news release, Bryan Restaurants LLC pointed to rising labor and food costs, as well as changing consumer trends.

“We are exploring several options for the future, which include the possibility of another restaurant-bar," said Brad Gebhard, chief financial officer of Bryan Properties, in the release.

The concept first opened more than 40 years ago on East Cherry Street, according to past reporting.

Ebbets Field, a sports bar that pays homage to the baseball stadium of the same name, has a menu that includes wings and burgers.

At 2550 S. Campbell Ave., New Year's Eve marked the send-off for Kiss Bar & Grill.

The music venue and bar and grill announced earlier in December that Jan. 1 would be its closure date.

"Although things didn’t turn out the way we hoped, we’re grateful for all the friends and memories we’ve made at Kiss! Last night was the absolute most perfect send off with Machine Gun Symphony!" the venue posted on Facebook yesterday.

Kiss Bar & Grill was registered with the Missouri secretary of state's office in 2021 by organizers Michael Goldsmith and Jodi Goldsmith.

Vic's Pastries, owned by Vic Pace, announced on Facebook that Dec. 30 was the last day for the 1545 W. Battlefield Road bakery.

"We wish to thank all of our customers through the years that have supported us," the post reads. "We have enjoyed being a part of your celebrations. The hardest part of closing is, we will miss all of you, our amazing loyal clients. We do plan on looking into doing some baking from home and also, doing farmers markets in the future."
