The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is recommending an increase in the deposit insurance cap for businesses.
FDIC officials did not specify a new cap.
"Business payment accounts pose greater financial stability concerns than other accounts given that the inability to access these accounts can result in broader economic effects," said FDIC Chair Martin Gruenberg. “Large concentrations of uninsured deposits increase the potential for bank runs and can threaten financial stability.”
