Developer teases plans at former car wash

A Springfield development group is teasing plans for a newly acquired property that formerly was a car wash.

Tillman Properties announced on Facebook yesterday the purchase of property at 204 W. Plainview Road. The site is home to a shuttered Ye Olde Buggy Bath car wash.

"If you have been tired of looking at this vandalized old car wash on Plainview for the past almost decade, well we have good news," the post reads. "Tillman Properties has purchased the building and we are giving it a beautiful facelift with a new business to come soon."

Jamie Tillman of Tillman Properties said via email that she's spearheading the project with assistance from her father, James Tillman, on renovations.

"It's not a car wash or a Huey Magoo's," Jamie Tillman said, noting she's finalizing plans for the project and hopes to release them in the coming weeks.

James and Lisa Tillman of Tillman Properties are the franchisees for five planned Huey Magoo’s restaurants in the Springfield area, including one at a former car wash in Ozark, according to past reporting. James Tillman also is a franchisee of First Watch restaurants.

The Plainview Road site is among recently sold properties on the website of Murney Associates, Realtors. It had been listed for sale at $499,000, with the listing noting the "property is suitable for a new retail use, office building or buyer can remodel the existing car wash."

Greene County recorder filings show the property changed hands on July 26. Plainview Property LLC, which is affiliated with Tillman Properties, bought the property from 204 Plainview LLC, registered to car wash veteran Greg Byler, according to the recorder’s office and Missouri secretary of state filings.
