Crews break ground on second Springfield Zaxby’s

A second Springfield Zaxby’s chicken restaurant is coming to the south side.

Franchisee Jason Pullman said crews broke ground a week ago at 540 W. El Camino Alto Drive in James River Commons, anchored by Academy Sports and Sam’s Club. He said construction should be complete in about four months.

“We just have always liked that location,” he said. “It works into the overall layout of what we want to do in Springfield.”

Via Zax Properties LLC, Pullman is developing the restaurant with business partner Jeff Hebble. The two opened the area’s first Zaxby’s restaurant in September 2016.

Pullman said Zax Properties entered a land lease with TKG-RKS Joint Venture LLC, the co-developers of James River Commons comprising The Kroenke Group and Ron Stenger Cos. Pullman, who believed there’s one more lot available in the development south of James River Freeway off Campbell Avenue, declined to disclose financial terms. A Springfield building permit estimates the project cost at $340,000.

Zax Properties hired Memphis-based Dimension Construction Inc. as general contractor and Kennesaw, Georgia-based MRP Design Group Inc. as architect for the 3,840-square-foot restaurant.

Pullman said he and Hebble are planning three more Zaxby’s restaurants in the market.

One store is enough. The chicken is greasy and there are no vegetable alternatives/sides. Too pricey Yeh, Chick Fil A!!
