People's Bank of China Deputy Governor Yi Gang has been promoted to the top job.
He succeeds veteran governor Zhou Xiaochuan, who is retiring after leading the bank for more than 15 years.
Yi had been deputy governor of the central bank for the last decade. He's a U.S.-educated economist who speaks English fluently.
