Chase to build first Springfield branch

National banking company Chase is bringing its first branch to the Queen City.

Jim Erickson, Chase’s market director for Springfield, said the 3341 S. Glenstone Ave. branch is slated to open this summer. The facility would be built from the ground up in front of Glenstone Marketplace, directly north of Target.

"We've been wanting to get into Springfield for a long time," Erickson said. "We've been wanting to have that opportunity."

Chase, the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), last week announced plans for more than 500 new branches scheduled to open by 2027. The Springfield branch is one of them, Erickson said.

"We are aggressively looking for additional locations, as well, throughout the city," he said.

The Glenstone Marketplace location would be a full-service branch with consumer and business services, including mortgages and investments, he said.

"We're going to a couple other markets here in the Kansas-Missouri area, and it's always a great opportunity not only to share our brand but also get involved in the community," Erickson said.

Chase officials declined to disclose the estimated cost for the Springfield branch, which would be about 3,000 square feet. St. Louis-based Musick Construction would serve as general contractor for the project designed by Dallas-based Rouch Architects, said Chase spokesperson Brian Hanover.

Chase has more than 4,700 branches in 48 states and Washington, D.C., according to its branch expansion announcement last week.

In Springfield, Chase Card Services operates at 303 E. Republic Road. The facility recently was sold to CoxHealth by Sentinel Net Lease, and Chase Card Services is slated to remain a tenant, according to past reporting.
