A fundraising campaign to renovate the Brentwood branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District has reached its halfway point.
With a $2.5 million goal in the crosshairs, the campaign has so far raised over $1.2 million, according to a news release.
The fundraiser - dubbed the ReNew Brentwood campaign and led by the Library Foundation - received $142,200 in major donations and pledges since December. Among them are:
- $100,000 donated by the O’Reilly-Wooten Family Foundation;
- a $14,000 donation from the Russel E. Benway Trust, in memory of Benway and in honor of library patron Barbara Benway;
- $10,000 donated by the BKD Foundation, the charitable arm of BKD LLP;
- a $5,000 grant from the Darr Family Foundation; and
- a $3,200 donation from the Mueller Family Foundation.
Nonprofit Friends of the Library also continues to pay toward the three-year $300,000 pledge it made last year via spring and fall book sale proceeds, according to the release.
The ReNew Brentwood campaign would update the 1971-built structure, 2214 Brentwood Blvd., to include a drive-thru window, expanded parking, additional meeting rooms, an energy-efficient HVAC system, separate children's and teens' departments and a public computer room. Designed by Dake Wells Architecture Inc., the project would seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design status.
A timeline for the project has not been set, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
