Bass Pro Shops is targeting a fall opening for its first store since the company purchased Cabela’s Inc. last year for $5 billion.
The 50,000-square-foot Outpost store in Halifax, Nova Scotia, will be located in the Canadian shopping development known as Dartmouth Crossing, according to a news release.
Bass Pro branding will be featured alongside that of Cabela’s and Tracker Boats at the store.
“Expanding to Halifax allows us to serve more Canadian sportsmen and women while providing an even greater opportunity to advance key conservation efforts across North America,” Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in the release.
The Halifax store will join 15 other Bass Pro and Cabela’s locations in Canada. Bass Pro hired 145 employees for the store, where officials are planning a grand opening with special appearances, events and giveaways. A grand opening date has not yet been announced.
Bass Pro also announced this month the renovation of an existing Outdoor World in Rogers, Arkansas, to add Cabela’s and Tracker Boats offerings. The renovation was slated to wrap by month’s end, according to a separate news release.
The plans for the 100,000-square-foot store represented the first large retail upgrade since Bass Pro bought Cabela’s in September.
The store remained open as renovations took place in stages this month.
