The Greater Springfield Board of Realtors reports home sales in September were down 25% compared with a year earlier, but the median sales price rose.
The number of sales in the association’s service area of Greene, Christian and Webster counties was 497 last month, compared with 659 in September 2022. According to the latest market statistics report, homes were selling 4% higher last month, to a median of $259,900 – compared with $250,000 a year earlier.
Also in the September report, officials say homes were on the market for longer: 24 days on average, from 17 days on market in September 2022.
The latest statistics follow the annual trends. Year-to-date in the local market, the number of homes sold is down 19% to 4,512 through September; prices are up 4% to $260,889 on the year; and the average days on market has doubled to 28.
In GSBOR’s three-county market, Greene recorded the most home sales in September, at 345, and had the fewest days on market, at 20. Christian maintained its lead on median sales price, at $293,900, according to the report, which is posted to GSBOR.com.
