Apple Inc. bought a self-driving car startup.
The acquisition of Drive.ai, a self-driving shuttle firm, reportedly will boost Apple's self-driving efforts.
The purchase of Drive.ai is said to be called an "acqui-hire" in industry terms. The company previously announced it would close, so the acquisition effectively means Apple will take on Drive.ai's engineers.
