Amberg Entertainment moving into Sunshine State

Posted online
Amberg Entertainment is expanding into Florida, opening its sixth location Nov. 1 in Sarasota, Fla.

Weather was a primary factor in the Springfield-based entertainment provider’s decision to open a new location there, said Ted Amberg, company owner and founder.

"It’s because I finally came to the realization that even though we stay fairly busy year round, we’re significantly slower – our outside events drop substantially between November and into February,” Amberg said.

He said it makes sense to move some company equipment to Florida during the winter months when it’s slow in Springfield because when it’s slow here, it’s busy in Florida.

Jules Garcia, head of the Sarasota office, was regional director of operations in Springfield until leaving six years ago, Amberg said.

"He already has the experience and the knowledge and the know-how of how to do this,” Amberg said. “We’ve been talking for the last year or so about doing something. Florida is one I’ve been eyeballing for the last few years. It’s a lot more saturated market. I’m pumped and ready to play.”

Besides Springfield and Sarasota, Amberg already has locations in Dallas, St. Louis, Denver and Bentonville, Ark.

Amberg Entertainment was founded in 1996 and was a finalist for Springfield Business Journal’s 2010 Choice Employers award in the 25-100 employees category and is a past honoree of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year award.
