SBJ, chamber to honor health care professionals

Springfield Business Journal and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize health care professionals in October at the fifth annual joint Salute to Health Care event.

Selected by a committee, the chamber will honor two physicians with its Salute to Health Care award, and SBJ will recognize individual Health Care Champions chosen by an independent panel of judges in four categories: clinical psychologist, dental hygienist, emergency room nurse and optometrist.

The Salute to Health Care award recipients are Mercy Clinic general surgeon Dr. John Bumberry and Ferrell-Duncan Clinic cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. David Zolfaghari.

In alphabetical order and by category, the Health Care Champions honorees are:
  • Clinical psychologist: Ann Beatty of Touchstone Counseling LLC, Jennifer Baker of the Forest Institute’s Robert J. Murney Clinic, and Deborah Kukal of Mercy Hospital Springfield
  • Dental hygienist: Stacey Boyce of Springfield Dental Care, Jill Grinnell of TerraGreen Dental LLC, and Mitzi Schenewerk of Buzbee Dental Clinic PC
  • ER nurse: Dawn Day of Mercy Hospital Springfield, Lana Martin of CoxHealth, and Sterling Kromas of Mercy Hospital Springfield
  • Optometrist: Dr. Devon Jarvis of Jarvis Family Eye Center LLC, Dr. Knial Piper of Jordan Valley Community Health Center and Dr. Dana Turner, an independent contractor.
The 14 honorees will be celebrated at the Salute to Health Care banquet at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 at the White River Conference Center, 600 W. Sunshine St. Tickets are $40 apiece and can be purchased through the chamber.[[In-content Ad]]
