Jon Weddle is focused on the task at hand, which almost always happens to be assisting others.
Weddle, a 10-year veteran with Monett-based software firm Jack Henry & Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY), currently serves the company as senior manager of its Imaging Solution Project Office. With a people-oriented and results-focused approach, since becoming senior manager in April 2011, his office has grown its revenue and exceeded goals for customer satisfaction.
Revenue in fiscal 2013 was up 38 percent in his department compared to fiscal 2011, and his office has garnered a 4.2 customer-survey rating. With customers quantifying their satisfaction on a scale of one to five, the company goal is to average a rating of at least four.
“I currently oversee a portfolio of more than 1,400 active software implementation projects at any time for approximately 400 different customers,” Weddle says. “Currently, only 0.9 percent – 13 projects and nine customers – are classified in red or yellow status.”
Weddle manages a staff of 19 project managers, located across five states. He says he tries to lead by example by making himself personally available to assist project managers with difficult tasks or customer situations. Hurricane Sandy recently put Weddle and a couple of his team members to the test.
“I had to send two of my project managers to a disaster recovery site to help with recovery efforts,” Weddle says.
“After two days of my team members working around the clock, I drove to their location to provide relief so they could get some rest. I continued to work for 24- to 30-hour shifts along with them for several weeks until we had fully recovered from the event.”
Mentoring is a big part of his job, as well, and something Weddle enjoys, even if he doesn’t always see a direct benefit.
“Recently, I was able to assist one of my employees in receiving a promotion outside of our department,” he says.
“While it was hard to lose him from my group, it was the right thing for both his career and our company’s need in that position.”
But Weddle is proudest of some of the work he’s done to help those in need outside the office walls.
Weddle started a men’s ministry through Grace Chapel Foursquare Church focused on empowering men to better serve their families, church and the broader community. He also is a missions council member for Grace Chapel in Springfield.
“My proudest community accomplishment to date has been leading a Springfield-based missions team to complete a classroom and the first orphanage house in Galgal, Haiti,” Weddle says of the mountain-village school that serves 200 children. “Most of these children would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school and many receive their only meal of the day while in attendance.”[[In-content Ad]]
