2014 40 Under 40 Honoree: James Meadows

Posted online
Polsinelli PC attorney and shareholder James Meadows just completed a memorable year with the culmination of more than four years of work on a “bad house” case.

In an almost two-week long jury trial, during which he led a team of multiple attorneys, paralegals and support staff, Meadows won a six-figure judgment in favor of his client. Meadows says the trial length and judgment size are significant for a residential construction case.

“I’ve come to a place in both my professional and personal life where I can help people and organizations resolve complex legal and practical issues, helping them reach their and our community’s goals,” he says.

Meadows teaches seminars and writes articles in his areas of legal expertise: mechanic’s liens, landlord and tenant issues, estate and medical care planning, and construction law, but it’s his work in the community he is most proud of. His volunteer work with South Haven Baptist Church is a significant example. Meadows has spent the past four years actively involved in helping the church work through a difficult time in its history after suffering the downturn economy and at the same time experiencing unplanned departures of key staff members.

“I have worked closely during the last four years with the new pastor … helping him learn the community, translating his vision to a reality and helping rebuild our senior ministerial staff,” explains Meadows, currently a deacon and personnel committee chairman for the church.

Meadows also lends his time to the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s Voice of Business committee, which gives him the opportunity to encourage Springfield City Council to adopt policies helpful to the long-term growth and development of the community.

In addition, he is in his second year on the Leadership Springfield board of directors, chairing its sponsorship committee, as well as serving on the Springfield-Greene County Library Board of Trustees and advisory board of The Network for Young Professionals. He also serves on the Springfield chamber’s Red Carpet committee and Greater Ozarks Building Systems Council.

“All of these organizations give me the opportunity to help to work to make our community a better place to live,” Meadows says.

Professional recognition also has set Meadows apart from other young lawyers. In 2009, he was selected by the Missouri Bar Association as a recipient of the David Dixon Award for excellence in appellate litigation and also as a Rising Star in 2012 and 2013 by Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers.   [[In-content Ad]]
