2014 40 Under 40 Honoree: Dan Malachowski

When it comes to civic involvement, Dan Malachowski believes actions speak louder than words. As owner of Baron Financial Group LLC, he requires all company agents and brokers to get involved with community organizations.

“This is a priority for me, so it has quickly become a priority for my team as well,” Malachowski says.

Employees are currently serving as board members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Metro Rotary Club, GYN Cancers Alliance, the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Malachowski is particularly proud of his Big Brothers Big Sisters board role and has helped grow its signature events, Bowl for Kids’ Sake and Taste of the Ozarks, which raise more than $300,000 for the organization.

In addition, he says he counts being able to help children in the Great Circle emergency shelter as one of the best experiences of his life.

“Some of (the children) had never experienced Christmas in their lives, so I wanted to be able to provide an experience that may, if only for a short while, be able to take their minds off of their current situation and being taken out of their homes and away from their parents,” Malachowski says. “It was as if I had the personal opportunity to be Santa for these children.”

In the office, mentoring, referrals and direct participation are the three avenues Malachowski emphasizes as keys to business success.

“In creating a new division of the Baron Financial Group this year, I have been able to bring on a new team member and give the support necessary for him to be successful,” he says. “It’s a good feeling when you can make that happen for someone. I work with him directly to create and shape the vision that he has for the insurance division.”

As president of two networking groups – the Association of Contemporary Executives and the Game Changers chapter of BNI – Malachowski also is able to mentor others in concrete ways, helping increase the value of their memberships and earn more business.

“Then you have the other side of being a member of the networking group – being able to refer business to the members of the group,” he says. “I have been one of the top members of both organizations during the past several years with the number of referrals I have been able to give.”

Professional awards have been numerous for Malachowski the past year. He was named a Top of the Pyramid Advisor by Transamerica Life Insurance Co., selected for the President’s Round Table by Principal Financial and singled out for the Stars Program by Jackson National Life.[[In-content Ad]]
