2014 40 Under 40 Honoree: Courtney Brown

Posted online
“That is not my job,” is a statement that cannot be attributed to Courtney Brown. As director of accounting for O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC, Brown wears several hats and is one of the first to volunteer, pitching in as needed and without being asked.

“I have bused and greeted tables at our restaurant, worked food show booths and sponsorship tables at events, helped with marketing campaigns and whatever else I have needed to do to help the team and the company succeed,” Brown says. “I have never believed titles matter as much as everyone working together toward the same goal to make the team or company stronger.”

Brown is proud of the growth at OHM and her opportunity in developing and implementing financial systems and processes from the ground up.

“When I began with OHM, we were a young start-up company with two properties. We have grown rapidly in the past five years and have established a strong reputation in the industry and community,” she says. “We now manage six hotels and three restaurants in three states and have three properties under construction that are scheduled to open next year.”

OHM managing member and CEO Tim O’Reilly says Brown completes whatever is asked of her “with near perfection.”

“She has basically taken an accounting and financial system designed for one property at the DoubleTree Hotel Springfield and Houlihan’s and has helped develop a complete accounting and financial system for our nine current properties under management, three under construction and another three to four in development,” O’Reilly says. “I only wish I could clone her several times as our company grows.”

During the past year, Brown has brought in new team members, mentored them and also has spent time at each company property training staff on accounting procedures and troubleshooting issues to make the jobs more efficient. She encourages and supports peers and team members to get involved in events and join organizations that give back to the community.

Brown is part of the Care Committee through DoubleTree Hotel, an active member of the Junior League of Springfield, member of the Cycle for Life committee with the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and has volunteered with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board since and 2009, serving on the Cruse Dog Park committee.

Her OHM pride continues to guide Brown’s career.

“I find it very significant that we have been able to grow so rapidly without sacrificing our core values,” she says. “We have developed a great working environment for our current and future team members where everyone feels invested and integral to our success.”[[In-content Ad]]
