Life Cycles LLC
After five years working at A&B Cycle and earning an entrepreneurship degree from Missouri State University in 2011, Jared Meyer started Life Cycles LLC on Oct. 17. Operating from his center city home and a retail front within Springfield Brewing Co., 305 S. Market Ave., Life Cycles sells Switzerland-based BMC bicycles and Lezyne accessories. Meyer is a cycling team member of SBC Sub-4, a sponsor relationship that led to his lease agreement to display a half-dozen bikes around the brewery, including a few hanging above the bar. He declined to disclose lease terms. Meyer, who also runs Meyer Lawn Service, said he personally financed the $30,000 venture. He has nearly 20 bikes in stock – road and mountain bikes starting at $1,000 – and performs service work on site. Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 207-6959. Web: LifeOfCycle.com

GuildMaster Inc.
GuildMaster Inc. opened a designer showroom Dec. 12 for a three-day public sale, and it will sell floor samples to the public once a month at 3055 E. Division St. The Springfield-based home furnishings manufacturer and distributor already operates showrooms in Dallas, Atlanta, Las Vegas and High Point, N.C. The addition in Springfield comes as the company works through bankruptcy reorganization, a plan that was approved in late September. The judge’s decision – centered on a purchase agreement by management and a $1 million commitment by unnamed investors – came a month after GuildMaster was sentenced to five years of probation for illegal imports after its wholly owned Chinese manufacturer applied lamps with counterfeit safety certification labels. Margaret Powers, GuildMaster’s Chicago-based vice president of sales, manages the showroom and product offerings, including Old World-designed wall art and lighting. Targeting interior designers in Kansas City and St. Louis, it shares space in the building with Jack Stack’s Great Game of Business. Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 879-3326. Springfield Law Group employs two legal assistants and its financial record keeping is outsourced, said Valerie Gaines, director of marketing and office manager. Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 823-9044.
