Meet the clients where they are. With this mantra in mind, Springfield-based Penmac Staffing Services Inc. has grown to encompass 28 offices in seven states. And this year, officials are projecting to hit a company milestone in revenues.

Fresh from ranking No. 9 on Springfield Business Journal’s Dynamic Dozen awards, Penmac President and CEO Paula Adams says the company is pushing itself to hit its coveted revenue goal of $100 million.

In fact, she said projections call for the company to exceed the figure by $2 million.

Last year, the company increased revenues by about 5 percent to $96.2 million. Its three-year revenue growth was roughly 24 percent.

“A majority of the time it’s to grow with the customer. Say we have an existing customer in Springfield or in another area, and they have a need in another state, we will go there,” Adams said, noting the company is always looking to move into new territories via requests for proposal.

“That’s really how we’ve grown,”

Founded in 1988 by Adams’ mother, Patti Penny, Penmac counts manufacturing clients as its top clientele – making up 85 percent of the temporary and long-term staffing, human resources and professional recruiting company’s business. In Springfield, Adams says the company has long-standing relationships with clients such as Regal Beloit, NorthStar Battery and Jarden Corp.

Adams said Penmac has established a niche in rural communities.

“The reason we’ve gone to the small communities is to really help fulfill the needs of the manufacturers that are in the area,” she says.

“Large manufactures, a lot of times, will go to surrounding counties to get their workforce.”

With its growth comes a desire to give back to the community, something Adams said Penmac founder Penny has believed in since the beginning of the 25-year-old company.

New this year was a Penmac Color Run team, which raised money for Equi-Librium Therapy Center, a nonprofit offering assisted therapy for children and adults in southwest Missouri.

Adams said Penmac has a partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College to help community workers get their high school diplomas, and in Springfield, the company provides transportation to and from work for as many workers as possible via the use of three van drivers.

“If there’s one thing my mom, when she started the company, has instilled in us: Giving back is what we do,” Adams says.[[In-content Ad]]
