At 29, Travis Tindall already has made an impact on Springfield both professionally and through civic endeavors.
The 2006 Drury graduate and licensed architect has co-owned nForm Architecture LLC since April 2011. Since graduation, he has been amassing a project list that includes work on the Springfield Catholic High School expansion, the Greene County Archives’ expansion, the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church addition and renovation, and the Keeter Center addition at College of the Ozarks.
Tindall is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-accredited professional, and he says designing buildings sustainably is a core value of nForm. The company’s first LEED-certified project – and just the fourth in the city – was the county archives expansion.
Becoming a business owner was a longtime goal for Tindall, who first worked at Butler, Rosenbury & Partners and Jennifer Wilson Architect LLC.
“Owning my own firm has been a goal of mine since grade school. However, I never would have thought it would have happened this quickly,” he says. “Design is a passion of mine, and I feel very fortunate to do this for a living. It is the most difficult and rewarding thing I’ve ever done.”
Architect Jennifer Wilson, Tindall’s business partner in nForm, says his mix of construction knowledge and creativity is unmatched.
“His free-hand sketches, which are becoming a lost art in the practice of architecture, are beautiful,” Wilson says. “His computer renderings are state-of the-art.”
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tindall, a founding member of the Springfield Foundation for Architecture, has established a strong work history for local charities.
He is a member of Springfield Sertoma Club and was chairman for the Wingapalooza fundraiser the last three years, helping to raise more than $100,000 for children’s charities through the event in that time.
“Putting on an event of that size takes a lot of coordination, time and energy,” Tindall says. “It’s worthwhile when the outcome is being able to help so many kids.”
This year, he is president-elect for the Sertoma Club and a member of the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield. He also is a founding member of the Young Advocates Council, which supports the Child Advocacy Center.
Last year, he helped plan the council’s first Burgers and Cheers event, which raised more than $15,000 to pay for children’s forensic examinations.
He now is the council’s chairman of fundraising activities.
