After the May death of a co-owner, Wheeler's Furniture is keeping the Bennett family name at the helm.
Richard Bennett
died May 16 at age 74. Now, his wife, Glenda Bennett, serves as owner and CEO, according to an Aug. 15 news release.
The Bennetts purchased the furniture business - which traces its roots back more than 80 years - in 1986 from the Parsons family. The husband and wife sold the downtown location of the store at Walnut Street and South Avenue in June 2008, consolidating the company's operations into its current location at 3861 South Ave. The south-side showroom opened in 2002.
"With support from her children and the staff, Glenda has stepped into the leadership role that her husband held, and Wheeler’s Furniture continues to embody and embrace the principles that made Richard and Wheeler’s so successful for the past 30 years," according to the release.
The company sells a variety of furniture sets for residences, as well as in-home consultation services and commercial projects, according to its
website.[[In-content Ad]]
