Wendy's of Missouri Inc., a subsidiary of Springfield-based Hamra Enterprises, closed this week on the purchase of six Wendy's restaurants in the Kansas City area.

Wendy's of Missouri now operates 34 franchise locations of the fast-food chain, operated by publicly traded, Dublin, Ohio-based The Wendy's Co. (Nasdaq: WEN). The Hamra Enterprises-owned company purchased its newest locations on Feb. 18 from P & H Holdings LLC for an undisclosed amount, according to a news release

The acquisition comprises all of P & H Holdings' Wendy's franchise restaurants: four in Kansas City, one in Liberty and one in Platte City, according to Hamra Enterprises Director of Brand Marketing Eve Metheny.

Wendy's of Missouri, led by President Chuck Ocarz, has reported same-store sales growth for 14 consecutive years through 2013, Metheny said.

For the KC-area branches, it's a return to the Hamra name.

“We are very pleased to be adding stores in Kansas City to our franchise group that were once owned and operated by my late cousin, John Hamra,” Hamra Enterprises founder Sam Hamra said in the release, noting the KC-area stores were operates in the 1970s and '80s.

Wendy's of Missouri's franchise holdings also including eight restaurants in Springfield, three in Branson and locations in Bolivar, Ozark, Nixa and Republic.

Hamra Enterprises also operates Boston Bread LLC, a Panera Bread franchisee in the greater Boston area; Chicago Bread LLC, a Panera franchisee in the greater Chicago area; SJH Hotels LLC, a hotel ownership company; and Jade Properties, a real estate holdings company, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
