Harmony House is now operating under the leadership of its former development director after the exit last fall of its four-year executive director.

The Springfield-based domestic violence resource center promoted Patty Ingle to take over the vacant position permanently on Dec. 16. She had served in the interim since September, when Director Rodney Dwyer vacated the position.

Ingle and past board Chairwoman Paula Rector, a criminology instructor at Missouri State University, declined to comment on whether Dwyer resigned or was let go, citing personnel disclosure policies. Harmony House's newly elected board Chairman Chris Ollis, of U.S. Bank Private Client Group, could not be reached for comment by deadline.

Dwyer said via email he now works as business operations manager for Springfield-based Capstone Cos., an umbrella business for construction, roofing and remodeling companies all carrying the Capstone name.

"My time at Harmony House was the most rewarding time I have ever spent, but ultimately I needed to leave for personal reasons," he said Feb. 11.

Dwyer was hired for the job at Harmony House in August 2009 after the resignation of Pat Reiser, who stepped down from the nonprofit's top post in June 2009 after four years on the job.

During his tenure, Dwyer oversaw the nonprofit's name change from the Family Violence Center in 2010, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Named among SBJ's 2012 class of Men of the Year, Dwyer was the first male to hold the role in Harmony House's more than 35 years. As director, he was charged with managing an annual budget of roughly $1 million and directing the planning, resource management, fundraising and public relations efforts of the organization, according to his 2012 profile.

Prior to her promotion, Ingle served as development director of Harmony House. She also has past experience as president and CEO of the southwest Missouri chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and as senior development officer for Missouri State University, according to a news release.

Harmony House also recently elected its 2014 officers for its board of directors. They are:
  • Chairman Ollis;
  • Vice Chairwoman Jackie Langdon of 2 Balance, a public relations firm;
  • Past Chairwoman Rector;
  • Treasurer Amanda Tummons of Husch Blackwell LLP; and
  • Secretary Candy Letterman of Arvest Bank.
Harmony House helps women and children survivors of domestic abuse find shelter, as well as offers advocacy and education services, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
