BKD acquires Pennsylvania firm

Posted online
BKD LLP has acquired a western Pennsylvania-based accounting firm.

The Springfield certified public accounting firm's purchase of Malin Bergquist & Co. LLP is slated to officially close Oct. 1 for an undisclosed amount, according to a news release.

Malin Bergquist employs 75 at two offices in Erie and Pittsburgh. With the acquisition, BKD signs on eight new partners, including Malin Bergquist CEO Jeffrey Deane, who will serve as managing partner of BKD's Pennsylvania offices. The acquisition represents BKD's first offices in the state.

“Malin Bergquist and BKD are well-matched in many regards, starting with our cultural commonalities. A shared focus on integrity and an innovative approach to exceptional service has enabled both firms to build a loyal client base that values professionalism, expertise and responsiveness," BKD CEO Ted Dickman said in the release.

Including Malin Bergquist, BKD now employs 2,100 - including 250 partners - at 33 offices in 15 states with annual revenue of more than $425 million.

BKD LLP slipped two spots to No. 12 on Inside Public Accounting's 2013 list of the largest U.S. firms in the industry, ranked by net revenue. The company reported fiscal 2013 revenue of $417.9 million, a 4 percent increase compared to $401.8 million in fiscal 2012, according to the 2013 IPA 100 list published in August.[[In-content Ad]]
