Mid-Missouri Bank is scheduled to break ground today on East Sunshine Street for its second Springfield branch.

The branch, which would be the Springfield-based company's 15th in Missouri, is scheduled to open in mid-2013, according to a news release from the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, which is sending ambassadors to mark the 4 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony at 3546 E. Sunshine St. Mid-Missouri Bank's only Springfield branch is located at  330 W. Plainview Road.

“We currently operate 14 locations serving 11 communities throughout southwest Missouri. With the addition of the east Sunshine facility, we are excited to increase our level of service to the Springfield community," said Dan Derges, Mid-Missouri Bank community bank president, in the release.

Neither Derges nor Mid-Missouri Bank President and CEO Eric McClure could be reached for further details this morning.

As of June 30, Mid-Missouri Bank held $171.8 million in deposits in the five-county Springfield metropolitan area, representing 2.16 percent of the deposit market share, according to data released this month by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
