With the Oct. 1 acquisition of a smaller Springfield firm, Corporate Business Systems has added information technology services to its repertoire.
Corporate Business Systems President and CEO Jim Quesenberry said his company purchased Aztec Computer Outfitters Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
With the acquisition, 17-year-old Aztec has been dissolved and its six employees have moved to Corporate Business Systems, 3348 E. Cherry St., from rented space at 2857 S. Campbell Ave., Quesenberry said, noting the company he founded has been in business for 18 years. Corporate Business Systems, which posted 2011 revenues of roughly $10 million, now has 54 employees.
Corporate Business Systems' core business is in the sales and service of copiers, printers, scanners, electronic imaging devices and networks.
"What we were looking for was a way to better serve our customers," Quesenberry said. "With the high cost of IT support, many companies during recent years have found their margins have eroded, that the profitability of their companies have gone down, so they've looked to outsource a lot of their IT needs.
"It gives us the ability to come in and see (a customer), and they can look us in the eye and know that we can handle all of their office equipment needs as well as all of their computer IT requirements."
New employees from the Aztec acquisition initially will handle their roughly 500 existing clients, and Quesenberry said IT services will be offered to Corporate Business Systems' approximately 5,000 customers in southwest Missouri.
In early 2008, Aztec was purchased for an undisclosed amount by its longtime general manager, Ryan Fraser, from founder Mike Green, according to
