Mission Statement:

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.  Its message is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.  Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Ways to Give:

The Salvation Army is one of the most efficient and effective nonprofit organizations around- $.82 of every dollar goes directly toward supporting vital local programs and services.  Outright gifts such as cash, securities and real estate, or tangible property can benefit The Salvation Army’s programs here and now.  However, charitable gifts, annuities, remainder trusts, bequests or life insurance policies are also a few ways you can leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

New and gently-used items are always needed.  Proceeds from sales support numerous local programs and services.  Please call 417-866-9426 for more information about donating items at our Family Thrift Stores.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are so vital to The Salvation Army that they are often referred to as ‘the army behind the Army’.  Volunteers are needed year-round to help with a variety of tasks such as to serve meals, bell ring at a red kettle, distribute food, provide transportation, answer telephones, and much more.  Join the hundreds of local volunteers who help us help those in need!  Call 417-862-5509 ext. 116 for more information.

Testimonial:

I came to The Salvation Army seeking refuge from an abusive relationship.  At the time I had limited income and was couch surfing with my daughter in tow.  But I kept the faith that my situation was going to turn around.  The Salvation Army was instrumental in giving me a new start.  Goodbye abuse, goodbye uncertainty, goodbye shame, hello new possibilities.  Thank you for everything you do and thank you for helping my daughter see the beauty and kindness in life.  Thank you for affording me the blessing of hearing my little girl say, “Mom let’s go home.”
