Mission Statement:

The mission of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home Association is to preserve Rocky Ridge Farm for the interpretation of the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder, her times, her poetry and her writings both fictional and non-fictional, concerning her family and the people of the Ozarks region for a worldwide audience of children and adults. 

Restoration- The Association continues to meticulously document, restore and preserve Laura’s heirlooms and artifacts.

Preservation- Overcrowding challenges the Association’s ability to provide climate controlled archival space.

Education- With the acquisition of almost all of the acreage of the original Rocky Ridge Farm, efforts continue to restore the farm to its historical glory for educational purposes.

 

Service Area: 

We have visitors from all over the world who come to visit Laura’s home. There is representation from 20-25 foreign countries each year as well as every state in the United States. It is so exciting to see the interest and to experience how Laura has touched so many lives in so many corners of the world. We are open March 1 – November 15, 7 days a week. (We are closed Easter Sunday.)

Funding: 

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home & Museum is funded strictly by admissions, membership, contributions as well as on-site and mail order sales. 

  

12-month Goal: 

The goal in this next year is the completion of the Archival Library, Museum & Visitor Center.

Annual Events: 

The third week in September Laura Ingalls Wilder Home & Museum celebrates “Wilder Days” with a full historic home tour, playing Pa’s fiddle, visiting celebrities, famous author book signings, among many other activities. This is done in cooperation with the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce events. 

The first weekend in December we celebrate “Christmas with Laura”. An open house is hosted while pictures in Laura’s parlor with Santa can be taken as well as sampling Laura’s baked recipes. Free to the public

Fund-raising dinner with Laura including sharing dessert in the historic home, we welcome participation from businesses and individuals to become sponsors
