Mission Statement:

The mission of Isabel’s House, Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks is to provide immediate refuge for children ages birth to 12 whose families are in crisis. By partnering with families and the community, we will strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Service Area:

Greene County and Southwest Missouri

Funding:

Isabel’s House mission was formed to create social change in southwest Missouri. Social change also requires significant operating funds. Last year Isabel’s House experienced a 18% increase in the number of children served. The average stay also continues to increase each year from 3 day stays in 2007 to 11 day stays in 2013.  These continued increases require additional resources, especially staff, for the overall care. Since beginning operation in 2007, Isabel’s House has continued to build a network of supporters. We currently receive funding through a State contract which accounts for 29% of the overall budget. The remaining 71% of our budget is funded through personal and corporate gifts, grants and foundation support, events and in-kind services.

12-month Goals:

Increase community awareness of Isabel’s House and the services we provide for children and families. Continue educating the community about positive parenting techniques. Develop and Implement strategies to increase family stability. Support and strengthen families that need our services by enhancing programs.

Annual Events:

Isabel’s House partners with KSPR Television to hold its largest fundraiser – “Hooray for Hollywood” (February 22, 2015). Opportunities are available for various sponsorship levels and individual tickets. Our second annual fundraiser is Isabel’s Tree which is sponsored by Houlihan’s.  Area businesses may become partners in this program to brighten the life of a child whose family is in crisis. Due to the increase of children and families that need our services, a third annual fundraiser was added this year in August- “The Summer Party” presented by BKD, Wealth Advisors, LLC. Other events are sponsored by local businesses and held throughout the year.

How People & Businesses Can Help:

Donate, become a sponsor, volunteer time, host an event or make a monthly gift in the Donor Next Door program.  Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of children. Since opening our doors in 2007, Isabel’s House has provided over 16,420 nights of care to children. Tax deductible contributions are vital to providing crisis services for children and families. Qualified donors are able to utilize either the Champion for Children or the Neighborhood Assistance Program, 50% tax credits. Financial support allows us to serve more children and families that are experiencing a crisis and need our services.

Volunteer Opportunities:

A wide array of volunteer opportunities are available that match anyone’s time or talents. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, working directly with children, cooking, gardening, event planning, administrative work, and maintenance. Spending even four hours volunteering with our children will change your life and a child’s.

Testimonial:

A crisis can occur any time of the day or night. It was 3 a.m. when one family found themselves in the middle of a crisis and in desperate need of help. A single mother of two had to be admitted for emergency surgery and did not have a safe place for her children.  The admitting nurse contacted Isabel’s House and a Family Advocate was called in to meet the mother at the hospital so that she could give consent to admit the children to Isabel’s House.  The mother was able to receive the medical help she needed while having the knowledge that her children were being well cared for at Isabel’s House.  After recovery, the children and the mother were reunited.  She said she did not know what she would have done without the help of Isabel’s House and feels very blessed to have had her kids in a safe and caring place!
