Mission Statement:
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Service Area:
Greene, Christian and Webster Counties

Funding:
Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri’s model of homeownership leverages volunteer labor, financial contributions, and donated materials. Like all non-profits, we depend on volunteers and donations. Unlike other non-profits, we have a steady form of income through ReStore sales and payments from homeowners. The ReStore accepts donated items from the community, and sells those donations to the public. Our homeowners purchase their Habitat home with a 0% 20-year mortgage and their monthly mortgage payments help us fund future homes. These sources of income, along with generous financial donors and grants allow us to maintain a consistent level of service to our community.

Goals and Opportunities:

1. Build and renovate up to 12 houses a year forHabitat partner home buyers living at 30 – 80% area median income.

2. Expand Neighborhood Revitalization, our affordable home repair program that assists Springfield homeowners in need but without the financial means to repair their home. Habitat currently serves 110 households each year with repairs ranging from exterior cleanup to roof repair.

Annual Events:

Habitat Home Run (August 2, 2014) 5K, 10K and

1 Mile Fun Run.

Habitat Hold ‘Em (November 8, 2014), presented byWagner Interior Supply and Drury Habitat Chapter, gathers friends of Habitat in a poker tournament.

Tool Belts and Bow Ties (March 20, 2015) gatherssupporters with the goal of raising enough money

in one night to fund the construction of an entireHabitat home.

Hearts & Hammers (November 4, 2014) recognizesHabitat donors, supporters and volunteers.

How People & Businesses Can Help:
Donors and volunteers are the backbone of Habitat. Individuals and businesses can contribute funds and in-kind gifts to sponsor construction costs and homebuyer education programs.  Shop tax-free at our ReStore, and donate new and used home improvement items to Habitat’s ReStore – we’ll even pick up your tax-deductible donations for FREE! The ReStore is open to the public, and funds raised support Habitat’s mission to eliminate poverty housing.

Volunteer Opportunities:
From family advocacy to construction, and special events to financials, there is a spot for any interest or background. Individuals and group volunteers 16 years and older with skill levels ranging from novice to expert are welcome!

Testimonial:

“Habitat for Humanity of Springfield helps people plant roots. I am truly humbled and grateful to be part of such a wonderful experience,” shared Kevin Corbisier, a Habitat homeowner since October 2013.
