Mission Statement:
The mission of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks (CCO) is to improve the quality of life in our region through collaborative outreach in the name of Jesus Christ, by doing together what can best be done together.

Service Area:
Primarily Greene County and Southern Missouri

Funding:
The Council of Churches receives public funding and private donations and grants from individuals, businesses, and private foundations.

Annual Events:
The Foundation, Council of Churches & CCO collaborate together to host two annual special events.  The St. Patrick’s Day Gala (the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day) and the Ozarks Charity Shootout Golf Tournament (in September).  Ambassadors for Children presents Sweetheart Night in February.  Community Outreach includes the annual Crosslines Holiday Center - Thanksgiving & Christmas Food Baskets and the largest toy distribution in Greene County - Crosslines Toy Store.

How People & Businesses Can Help:
Financial support gives CCO the ability to continue community outreach to provide services for low-income individuals and families in Southern Missouri.  Annual Fund gift opportunities include: supporting the Compassion Campaign; sponsorships of events and agencies; planned giving; donations of appreciated stock/real estate; bequests; endowment gifts; designated & undesignated cash gifts by check, credit, or electronic funds transfer; in-kind gifts for agencies needs: food items, new children’s clothing, new toys, and books.  For immediate needs call 417-862-3586.

Volunteer Opportunities:
CCO offers volunteer opportunities that work directly with clients and we offer a variety of opportunities to accomodate volunteers of one to one thousand.  Opportunites include tutuoring/reading with children, Crosslines food pantry distributions and mobile pantry distributions, Christmas gift wrapping, food basket distribution, Toy Store Helpers, staying overnight at the women’s shelter, and more.  Call today to get involved and put your compassion into action!

Testimonials:
“A mom and her two sons came to the pantry.  The oldest child was about 12 or 13 years old.  The boys were very quiet and appeared to be embarrassed.  When they began to shop for food, the oldest child got close to me and in a quiet voice asked, “Does this mean we are poor?” I answered, “No, it just means your mom needs a little help with groceries today.”

  –Crosslines Volunteer;

“Safe to Sleep provided me a place to stay when no other place could.  I have found comfort at the shelter.  Thanks for a hug every once in awhile for encouragement and the smile that speaks volumes. It means so much!”

–Safe to Sleep Guest;

 “One 9 year-old foster child started off struggling to read one word at a time and in a few short months in tutoring through Ambassadors for Children, progressed to reading chapter books at her grade level!”
