Mission Statement:
The Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in our region through resource development, community grantmaking, collaboration, and public leadership.

Service Area:
The CFO’s designated service area is the 58-county region south of the Missouri River.

Funding:
The CFO receives operational funding from an annual fee assessed on funds along with the annual Founders Fund campaign where donors contribute to support general operations.

12-month Goal:
The CFO’s Action Plan for FY15 includes: Researching potential linkages to economic development as a means of reducing poverty and increasing quality of life in the region through a more robust economy; holding the first online “day of giving”; and reviewing whether to establish a new office in southeastern Missouri to serve that area of our service region.

Annual Events:
Each year, the CFO hosts several events to bring together partners in our various programs. Representatives of our affiliate network convene in Springfield for an annual conference each spring; in the fall, the CFO staff holds smaller conferences at five sites across our region. Members of the Rural Schools Partnership attend the annual Rural Schools Rendezvous each spring. In the fall, our Youth Empowerment Project chapters of middle- and high-school students gather to share inspiration and best practices. The CFO celebrates our donors and nonprofit partners at annual appreciation events each spring and summer. Throughout the year, the CFO schedules a series of sessions to provide no-cost training for nonprofit partners.

How People & Businesses Can Help:
The CFO offers a variety of different types of funds to streamline charitable giving for individuals and businesses to support their favorite charitable causes and interests. It’s not necessary, however, to establish a fund to support the community. Donors can make tax-deductible contributions to existing funds that support their charitable interests. In addition, the CFO’s Cause Momentum online giving platform features specific projects for which nonprofits are seeking funds. For more information, visit: cfozarks.org/donate; or causemomentum.org.

Volunteer Opportunities:
The CFO is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. In addition, volunteers serve on a number of committees, such as grantmaking cycles, the Investment Advisory Board, mission-related investing; scholarships; and more.

Testimonials:
“The CFO is a dedicated organization, run by mission-minded individuals that are truly interested in the health of our community. No matter what our need, when we contact CFO, we are courteously and promptly assisted. This continues into chance meetings outside CFO’s doors as well.”

– Pat Reiser, Executive Director,

CASA of Southwest Missouri
