Mission Statement:
Serving community behavioral health needs since 1977, Burrell offers confidential mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, and autism diagnostic and treatment services. Our Mission is to meet behavioral health needs where and when they occur and before they become more serious.

Service Area:
Southwest and Central Missouri.  In Southwest Missouri, our counties include Christian, Dallas, Greene, Polk, Stone, Taney and Webster.  In Central Missouri, our counties include Boone, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Pettis, Randolph and Saline.

Funding:
As Burrell is the safety net for the most seriously mentally ill population of SW and Central Missouri, the funding to provide the services comes primarily from Medicaid and the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Other sources of funding are Medicare, commercial insurance and grants.

12-month Goals:

1. Develop clinical programming responsive to evolving needs of the communities served by Burrell.

2. Enhance information flow and information technology infrastructure to provide better internal communication, coordination, and improved service delivery.

3. Provide adequate safe, functional, and attractive physical space for all Burrell programs.

4. Improve quality of Burrell clinical services through monitoring of standards and fidelity to evidence-based programming.

5. Become our areas’ provider of choice for behavioral health educational offerings for employees, professional staff, and the community.

Annual Events:

Burrell participates in a variety of community activities during the month of May in celebration of Mental Health Month.  This includes art contests for children, an annual run, a day at the park, community fairs, and a variety of other activities designed to promote mental health and wellness and help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

How People & Businesses Can Help:
There are frequent opportunities to be of service to individuals impacted by mental illness, not only as part of our annual events in May, but in other unique ways that benefit the most vulnerable in our communities.  Those range from teaching gardening at our residential facilities, to landscaping projects, to coordinating a fundraising event, etc.  Because so many of the homeless also struggle with mental illness, we have an outreach center located at the local homeless shelters, where donations of any kind and gifts of service are always utilized in some fashion.

Volunteer Opportunities:
There are opportunities associated with our annual events each year and volunteers are critical to their success.  For more information, contact Burrell administration.

Testimonials:
“I will never get my baby brother back – schizophrenia took him away from me and our family.  But, thanks to your services, he is now off the streets and we have the opportunity to build a new relationship.  Without medication and you and your services, we wouldn’t be afforded that chance.”
