2014 Giving Guide: UMB Bank, n.a.

It has been quite some time since financial institutions have been able to view the economy through an optimistic lens, but indeed it appears that we are headed down that path sooner rather than later. Having steered our customers through varying economic cycles over the last century, most recently through The Great Recession and now into less turbulent times, UMB’s commitment to “doing right” has endured through all seasons.

The values set by the founding members of our company have allowed us to maintain stable growth in even the most challenging environments, but also reinforced that our collective focus on community service and involvement should never waiver. In addition to providing a solid portfolio of financial products and services, associate volunteerism and corporate philanthropy have become engrained in our company culture and accurately define where we strive to be as a committed community partner.

During UMB’s 100-year anniversary celebration, we challenged our associates to come together and give back. We asked 500 associates throughout our footprint to volunteer 5,000 total hours in some capacity within their community. What we didn’t expect was more than 35,000 total volunteer hours completed, or seven times our original goal. More than 1,000 deserving organizations, including those in your great community, were changed in some way because of their hard work. We are incredibly proud that the challenge was completed with such record-breaking tenacity.

As a Missouri-based bank for more than a century, we look forward to spreading “good” throughout southwest Missouri, and providing you the financial services you need to support growth and prosperity.
