Springfield chamber among finalists for national award

Posted online
The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is one of three finalists in its category for the Chamber of the Year Award presented by American Chamber of Commerce Executives.

ACCE, an organization that represents 1,200 chambers and more than 7,000 chamber professionals in the U.S. and Canada, will present the award at its annual convention, slated for Aug. 2 in Louisville, Ky., according to a Springfield chamber news release.

The award recognizes chambers of commerce that have demonstrated community leadership and organizational strength and have impacted community priorities.\

Judges for the award noted that they were impressed with the Springfield chamber’s strategic plan, volunteer involvement and leadership, and advocacy initiatives, the release said.

Springfield chamber President Jim Anderson said this is the first time the local chamber has been a finalist for the award.
“We’re overwhelmed with this national recognition by our peers,” Anderson said in the release. “We’re most proud of our volunteer leadership and our staff team that made this happen.”

Springfield is a finalist in the largest category, for chambers with revenues of $2 million or more, according to an ACCE release. The other finalists in the category with the Springfield chamber are the Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County in Indiana and the Hilton Head-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce in South Carolina.[[In-content Ad]]
