After a five-year lease expired in Kansas Plaza, 1st Source Servall moved April 30 to 1350 E. Chestnut Expressway. The move to the 10,000-square-foot warehouse allowed the appliance parts distributor to triple its inventory, said Rocky McGhee, the company’s Tulsa-based general manager of five warehouses. With McGhee, Dan Dickinson manages the Springfield site, which employs four and sells Whirlpool, GE, Electrolux and Maytag parts to service contractors such as Cook’s Appliance and Barnes Town & Country. Dickinson said the company also sells HVAC parts and appliance accessories. Detroit-based 1st Source Servall entered the Springfield market via a 2009 acquisition of Greer Appliance Parts. pH Life
Husband-and-wife Stacy and Nicole Kimmel launched pH Life on Feb. 1 after two years of research and four months working with a Kansas City-based business development and marketing company. Under Journey Ventures LLC, the Kimmels’ home-based company offers an alkaline mineral supplement, wellness support through MyEWellness.com and coaching to produce a body’s proper pH balance, said Nicole Kimmel, a certified business coach through the International Coach Federation and a former independent representative for Silpada Designs. Stacy Kimmel is a personal fitness trainer and wellness practitioner. Nicole Kimmel said their pH Thrive product, a concentrated mineral drop, is placed at Mama Jean’s Natural Market and Hy-Vee in Springfield, and their pH Strips are available at Hy-Vee. Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet
Aaron Wu and Cindy Yeng opened Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet on May 10 at 1950 E. Kearney St., the former home of a Ryan’s buffet. “That was the biggest place I could find in Springfield,” Wu said of the 12,000-square-foot space leased from property owner CCCH Inc., according to Greene County assessor’s records. The 256-seat eatery features 12 buffet tables, with more than 300 items, including soup, sushi and entrees, as well as a hibachi grill station, allowing diners to choose their own ingredients and watch as their food is cooked. Wu said the restaurant employs 16 full- and part-time staff members and includes two private rooms available for rent. Buffet prices start at $6.99 for lunch.
