Enoch and Debbie Morris and their family opened Enoch’s BBQ & Southern Classics on April 24 at 2101 W. Chesterfield Blvd., Ste. B-102. Operating under Morris Spices LLC, the eatery’s menu includes barbecue brisket, pulled pork and ribs, as well as Southern dishes such as fried chicken and pot roast. Daily specials, with entrees such as fried chicken, meatloaf and fried catfish, come with two sides for $6.99, said Devon Morris, the Morrises’ daughter and manager of catering and operations. Enoch Morris, development and sales director for Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, and his wife co-own the eatery, which employs five members of the Morris family and four part-time staff. Morris Spices obtained an $80,000 U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loan through Liberty Bank to help fund the startup. With about 1,000 square feet, the eatery seats nearly 35. Great Southern Bank
Great Southern Bank opened a branch April 29 at 1805 W. Kearney St., replacing a branch that was about a block away at the corner of Kansas Expressway and Kearney Street. The new branch, with about 3,000 square feet, is roughly twice the size of the former location. Morelock-Ross Builders Inc. was the general contractor for the roughly $555,000 project. Shannon Cox is the branch manager for the new location, which employs 11 others. Scott Loveland Insurance LLC
Scott Loveland Insurance LLC on May 1 purchased Lebanon-based Anne Doublin Insurance Agency LLC for an undisclosed amount. The Lebanon office, which is being rebranded as Scott Loveland Insurance at 1205 E. Route 66, is the second brick-and-mortar office for the insurance firm, which operates in Springfield at 2332 W. Kingsley St., Ste. A. Owner Scott Loveland said Dorace Burton, office manager for Doublin Insurance, is staying on as the sole employee in Lebanon. The move brings Loveland Insurance’s employee count up to six. Loveland Insurance, which was launched in July 2008, handles home, life, auto, health and businesses insurance polices for about 2,000 clients in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Illinois.
