Project description: General Manager Missy Handyside said the 13,000-square-foot expansion of the Ramada Oasis Convention Center would add to the existing 16,000 square feet to accommodate more meeting and banquet space. The project features a 7,000-square-foot conference hall that could be divided into three rooms, as well as a new lobby and a walkway that will connect the hotel to the convention center. Stan Hammack, vice president of operations for Killian Construction, said the existing space is undergoing a remodel, which includes roughly doubling the size of the kitchen. Robert Low, owner of Springfield-based trucking company Prime Inc., owns hotel and convention center under the Ramada Worldwide franchise and operates it under Campus Inc. In 2011, the convention center hosted 675 events, Handyside said.
