Upland bird hunting is one of the most popular hunting sports in the world. As a matter of fact, hunting is more than a hobby, it’s becoming known as the winter version of golf for the businessman. A hunting trip is also the perfect time to get outside and out of town with friends and business associates.

That’s where Running Spring Farm Hunting Preserve and Inn comes in, as a hunting resort, Running Spring Farm boasts the finest released pheasant, chukar, and quail in the area. Located 30 miles northwest of Springfield in historic Everton, Running Spring Farm is the ideal corporate getaway.

Situated on 300 acres, Running Spring Farm is completely dedicated to upland bird hunting and the habitat necessary to make that possible. Under the guidance of a Missouri Department of Conservation Private Lands biologist, Running Spring Farm owners Bill and Ellie Cork and staff work tirelessly to ensure that a long-term productive habitat for upland birds and wildlife is put in place.

In addition, Running Spring Farm boasts the Inn, with well-appointed rooms, a large sitting room, dining room, full kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, and a conference room. A covered deck is the first step outdoors and the patio has a fire pit and gas grill, not to mention the breathtaking view of the Ozark foothills.

Running Spring Farm is a labor of love for Bill. After retiring from a career in public relations representing hunting, fishing, boating and camping clients throughout the country, Cork decided he was going to live happily ever after hunting and fishing. However, he quickly got bored, and as a result, Running Spring Farm was born.

“We get visitors from all over the country, and since we are only 26 miles from the airport, many business groups come in to stay the night and hunt,” Cork said. “With the lodging, the clubhouse, the kitchen facilities, and competitive prices, we are growing.”

The hunting season runs from September 15-April 1, and Cork offers half day, overnight, and European pheasant shoot packages.

Although not required, Cork also offers membership, which has its privileges. Running Spring Farm has a variety of offerings and can create custom packages to fit individual and group needs. In addition, the Farm is also home to two half-acre ponds and acres of land for hiking, fishing, camping, bird watching, clay target shooting, picnics, and relaxing, drawing in year-round visitors.

While Running Spring Farm started out as a way for Cork to share his love of the outdoors, in just over 10 years it has grown into a premier outdoor destination for businessmen throughout the Ozarks and around the country.
