On Aug. 18, Christopher Poulos opened custom spice shop The Spice Agent at 105 E. Main St. in Branson. The shop occupies about 2,000 square feet and is Poulos’ first business after growing up cooking with his brother Mark, a chef in St. Louis. Poulos is the sole owner and operator of The Spice Agent, which offers freshly ground spices, 24 gourmet salts and more than 50 custom blends including barbeque rubs and taco seasonings. Great Southern Insurance relocated Nov. 1 to 5,700 square feet at 2925 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 120, in Claremont Commons. The insurance office, which employs 17, had shared space with a banking department at 430 South Ave., spokesman Brian Eaton said. Great Southern Insurance, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Southern Bank established in 1952, also operates offices in Ozark and West Des Moines, Iowa. Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services
Husband-and-wife Kevin and Leisha Baker on Oct. 25 opened the Springfield franchise of Tampa, Fla.-based Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services. Kevin Baker, who has 25 years of experience in marketing and business development mostly with The Wiremold Co., and Leisha Baker, a fifth-grade teacher at Disney Elementary, employ more than 15 tutors, each with at least a bachelor’s degree and some with master’s degrees, said Kevin Baker. The Bakers, who operate from home, act as educational consultants and meet with students and parents to establish educational goals and pair students with tutors, who visit the students’ homes. Club Z, which participates in Springfield Public Schools’ Partners in Education Program, charges $34 to $39 per hour and also tutors adults.
