Famous Dave's coming to former Auto World site

Posted online
The area franchisee of Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que is bringing one of the restaurants to Springfield at the former site of Auto World of Springfield, 4406 S. Campbell Ave.

Dave Jones, the franchisee who also owns two Branson locations at the Branson Landing and the Branson Airport, will manage the location, said James Mason, manager at the Branson Landing location.

Jones was unavailable for comment.

Jeff Childs of Sperry Van Ness Rankin Co. LLC, who brokered the sale of the 12,000-square-foot Auto World property, said a group of investors purchased the property and would be leasing portions to tenants.

Childs said the property, which went up for sale early this year, sold for an undisclosed amount June 1. The property was listed on the Sperry Van Ness Rankin Co. Web site for $2.5 million.

Childs also declined to disclose the name of the investor group.

"My understanding is they'll do a renovation of the facility," Childs said.

According to Greene County assessor records, the property owner is listed as 4406 South Campbell LLC, which is organized by St. Louis attorney John Steward.

Auto World of Springfield was constructed by Eoff & Associates Inc. in 2005 and opened that year in October. Owner Steve Faria spent approximately $1.7 million on the property, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
