MSU, Crosslink receive $1.7M grant

Posted online
Missouri State University biology professor Paul Durham, director of the Center of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Jordan Valley Innovation Center, received a $1.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of the Army via Crosslink Inc.

The money is for the project, "Self Decontaminating Polymer System for Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents," which is in collaboration with Fenton-based Crosslink. The goal is to develop a self-detoxifying, self-renewing reactive material coating system for collective-protection structural textiles. The textiles would destroy chemical and biological agents and prevent contamination.

"We have been working with Crosslink for several years and enjoy the dynamic nature of research that involves basic and applied science in the development of novel technologies and devices," Durham said in a news release. "This type of collaborative study, which is characteristic of Jordan Valley Innovation Center-funded projects, provides a unique and stimulating research environment for students - both graduate level as well as undergraduate."
