Brothers Johnson and John Tan reopened Ocean Zen on May 31 at 600 E. Battlefield Road. The restaurant had operated for more than two years at 2058 S. Glenstone Ave. The new location, formerly Tony Roma’s, has 7,400 square feet versus 3,400 square feet at the Glenstone building, which the Tans still own. They plan to open an upscale Chinese restaurant there called 5 Spice China Grill before the end of the year, according to Ocean Zen Manager Colin Yates. Ocean Zen serves Pacific Rim cuisine, which is a mix of Asian, French and Italian foods. Dinner prices range from $9 to $39. Guitar Center
Guitar Center opened Feb. 22 at 3500 S. Glenstone Ave. in Primrose Marketplace. Matt Carpenter manages the store, which carries new and used guitars, along with amplifiers, percussion instruments, keyboards and recording equipment. Westlake Village, Calif.-based Guitar Center Inc., founded in 1964, is publicly traded (NasdaqGS: GTRC) and has more than 200 locations nationwide. Other Missouri locations are in Bridgeton, Crestwood and Independence, according to the company’s Web site, www.guitarcenter.com. Changes
Gino Barbo, Sherman Monehan, Shane Hanson and Shawn O’Brien opened Changes on May 18 at 4121 S. Fremont Ave., Ste. 104. Changes offers noninvasive body-enhancement procedures, including procedures meant to tone muscles and diminish cellulite, according to Sales and Marketing Director Melanie Meyer. Changes is registered with the Missouri secretary of state’s office as Great Changes LLC and is one of 56 independent affiliates of Tulsa, Okla.-based Changes.
