Board gives final approval to Branson high-rise

Posted online
After more than two hours of public comment Dec. 11, the Branson Board of Aldermen gave final approval to a 25-story hotel that will be part of The Point Entertainment Complex.

Thirty people – including 16 in opposition – spoke at the meeting about the proposed high-rise, which received first-read approval Nov. 27. The vote was a reversal of the board’s Sept. 25 decision to scale down the hotel to 12 stories.

Mayor Lou Schaefer cast the deciding vote in favor of the high-rise after the board voted 3–3.

The 300-foot tall resort hotel would include condos, upscale retail shops and a restaurant on the top floor, all part of the $100 million Point Entertainment Complex. The resort, to be located at the corner of highways 65 and 248, also is slated to feature a classic-car museum, a parking garage, a conference center and office space.

The project’s developers are HCW Development Co. LLC of Branson and Evergreen Investments LLC of Lebanon.
