JMark Business Solutions Inc. President and CEO Thomas Douglas is focused on business outcomes that positively change people’s lives.

This philosophy had led his Springfield-based information technology company to not only increased revenues and employee count, but also establishment of employee profit sharing, a wellness program and multitudes of community service work.

“One of our main focus areas is people first, technology second,” Douglas says via email. “These programs help exemplify that belief. If we do a great job taking care of our team, our team will do a great job taking care of our clients.

Douglas knows when an employee is stressed, they aren’t focused on the task at hand. For that reason, JMark covers 100 percent of health insurance premiums for all employees and 70 percent of premiums for their families.

The company also has added a wellness program to encourage proactive healthy living activities to help lower health care expenses, absenteeism and raise retention rates.

Beginning in second-quarter 2014, the company instituted a profit-sharing program. Based on average growth during the preceding three months, Douglas said the program can provide each employee additional income ranging from 3 to 20 percent of their standard salary.

“We have some amazing people at JMark that make our success possible,” he says. “We wanted to take those successes and share them with the company so we can all get the benefits of the hard work put into JMark’s future.”

Sharing that success has paid off for JMark, which increased revenues by 27 percent 2012-14. Last year, the company generated $10.8 million in annual gross revenue, up $1 million from 2013. The recent hire of Director of Marketing and Communications Chris Tuckness and a targeted marketing strategy also has fueled personnel growth. The company is up 20 employees over the same three-year period, with a current headcount of 80.

Douglas’ belief in sharing the wealth also extends to the Springfield community, where JMark counts at least 22 area nonprofits it contributes or in which employees serve in some capacity, including Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Champions Committed to Kids and Lost & Found Grief Center.

“With success comes a responsibility to help those who have a need,” Douglas says. “We’ve been very fortunate to be trusted by many people and companies in our community. We see it as a responsibility and a privilege.”[[In-content Ad]]
