Fewer Mo. homes sell in 3Q

Missouri real estate agents sold fewer homes in the third quarter, but at higher average prices.

Realtors sold 18,660 homes during the three months ended Sept. 30, down from 19,851 sold in third-quarter 2013, according to a Missouri Association of Realtors news release.

Consumers bought homes at an average price of $173,475 during the quarter, a 5 percent increase over $165,413 a year earlier.

Homes also spent three less days on the market before being sold, at 120 days in the third quarter.

During September, Realtors sold 5,623 homes, a 4 percent decrease from the same month in 2013. The average price rose 6 percent last month to $164,531, after sitting on the market an average 124 days - two days more than in September 2013.[[In-content Ad]]
