Fewer Mo. homes sell in July

Posted online
Missouri real estate agents sold 6,947 homes in July, a 7.5 percent decrease compared to 7,021 homes sold in the same month last year.

However, homes sold faster last month - sitting on the market an average 117 days - compared to July 2013, when homes were on the market for an average 124 days, according to a Missouri Association of Realtors news release.

During July, the average price of homes sold in the Show-Me State rose 4.2 percent to $179,625 from $172,419 a year earlier. The median price was $146,500 last month, a 4.6 percent bump from $140,000 in July 2013.

"With solid home sales and healthy price appreciation, the current state of Missouri real estate shows strong trends with favorable conditions for both buyers and sellers," the MAR reports.

Compared to June, last month's number of homes sold decreased 5 percent, but spent five less days on the market. The average selling price remained flat month-to-month, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
